Under the sponsorship of the Prince of Al-Baha region, Hossam bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, the Director General of the Agricultural Development Fund (ADF), Munir bin Fahd Al-Sahli, and the Chairperson of the Beekeepers Cooperative Association in Al-Baha region, Dr. Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the office of the Emirate on Tuesday 3 Rajab 1439AH, corresponding with 20 March 2018, in order to support the sector of beekeepers in the region, targeting during the first phase about 250 beekeepers with a funding worth over SAR 40 million.
The MoU aims to make the ADF fund beekeepers with the requirements of honey production under the name “Al-Baha Bekeepers Funding Project”, according to the regulations and controls in force. The association will provide the needs of all the mobile bee hives using modern technologies in the field of beekeeping.
The MoU also stipulates that beekeepers who would like to borrow must be undergo a training composed of two courses. The first would be for beginners and the second would be more advanced on the modern methods of beekeeping.
The fund is looking forward to seeing cooperation among the associations specialized in the field of beekeeping and honey production across the regions in KSA that have comparative advantages for honey production in order for them to contribute to advancing the industry, in accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in this regard. This will also generate jobs for Saudi young people based on the KSA 2030 Vision.
